How do you adjust the screen settings on a laptop with a small screen that is attached to a large LCD monitor?
My work laptop is 14". But at work, I dock to a large flat screen monitor (about 25"+). The problem is, when I un-dock to go to a meeting, my laptop doesn't have a large enough screen.
If I set it to fit within my laptop screen, then the screen is small when I dock, and also looks very long and stretched out. It defeats the whole purpose of having a large flat screen. If I set the resolution to fit into the large flat screen everything is great, but once I go to a meeting, I have to adjust my resolution again.
I have Windows XP. Does it support something that will automatically switch over my monitor when I un-dock so that it's the right size?
I have tried all the standard settings changes. My question is whether there is a way this process would happen automatically.
Does anyone know which buttons/fields Benjamin R is talking about? I see neither display modes nor graphic options anywhere...
Right click on your main display. It will either be display modes or graphics options. I haven't done it for awhile however I did use it on Windows XP. It automatically recognizes the screen and adjusts itself, but you have to right click on your main display and tell the computer what you want to do.
