How do I download and edit videos from a Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS to iMovie?
I just got my MacBook Pro and I'm trying to take videos from my camera [Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS] so that I can edit them on iMovie 09, but it won't recognize the video clips. I don't think they're in the right format. Are there any modes I can change on my camera or my computer to make this work? Or am I just doing it wrong?
I don't have that camera but try this approach.
Take the SD card out of your camera and plug it into the SD card slot in your computer.
The card will show up as an external device on your desktop.
Open the card folder and you should see all the files.
Highlight your video files and drag them either onto your desktop or into a new folder there.
Eject your card and remove it.
Now open iMovie, and go File > Import > Movies... and navigate to those movie files and see if they will import that way.
